About

Dylan Morris fell in love with music because it has the unrivaled quality of empowering a person to feel connected to their deepest self. His music is an expression of living life in pursuit of that truth: When you stoke your inner fire, the glow is felt by all.

Born and raised in 1991 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dylan played hockey and the violin. You couldn’t find a more incongruous pair of hobbies. As a child, he studied classical music and performed in youth orchestras, but classical music would not be his path.

His ear would be drawn to film scores, like the Lord of The Rings, and his heart would follow as his fingers found the notes on the strings. What began as enchanted, creative exploration fervently blossomed into writing songs when he heard a friend playing a song on a piano during a break at orchestra rehearsal. The song was “Landed” by Ben Folds. Dylan immediately became mesmerized. He got his hands on a piano that year, and pursued it vigorously.

He moved to Nashville, TN in 2009 to hone his craft in the guidance of a handful of Nashville’s greatest writers at the world-renowned Belmont University. Upon graduating from Belmont, Dylan released an original studio album called American Daydream. Then, he joined Doctor Jungle Cat, an independent rock group based in East Nashville, whose songs have been in rotation on local radio station WRLT Lightning 100.

Dylan wrote music and performed as the group’s keyboardist, best known for their underground rock shows in East Nashville and performances at festivals throughout the South. After a few years together, the group disbanded. Following the split, Dylan returned to his own songwriting and focused on expansion. He fell into a new passion for ballroom dance, especially American Lindy Hop, Blues, Balboa, and Brazilian Zouk. Pursuing dance actively reignited his flair for performance.

Recently, Dylan has been performing around Nashville’s famed writers’-round circuit with some of the best up-and-coming, singer-songwriters in America. He is currently in the studio, recording new music, and producing music videos to be released throughout 2023 and beyond.
